Located in Seo-gu, Daejeon, SNK Hospital is a medical institution specializing in the treatment of joint and spinal disorders, guided by the goal of being “a hospital where patients can focus solely on recovery in comfort before, during, and after treatment.” The hospital operates a collaborative care system with 12 medical professionals across five departments, including orthopedics, neurosurgery, internal medicine, radiology, and anesthesiology and pain medicine. It primarily treats middle-aged and elderly patients with degenerative conditions affecting the knees, shoulders, and spine, while also providing a broad range of care from sports injuries to trauma and general fractures.
In 2023, the hospital relocated and expanded with a focus on improving patient flow efficiency and integrating its clinical systems. The new layout was designed to minimize unnecessary patient movement and waiting times. Departments such as orthopedics, neurosurgery, internal medicine, radiology, and rehabilitation therapy were organically connected on a single floor, allowing patients to proceed comfortably from consultation to examination. In addition, a sterile surgery center and inpatient wards were consolidated on one floor, establishing a single, streamlined clinical pathway from surgery through hospitalization.
More recently, in order to manage patients more efficiently and systematically, the hospital introduced the wearable patient monitoring system “HiCardi,” developed in partnership with Dong-A ST.
Director Yong-In Kim, an orthopedic specialist at SNK Hospital, explained the background of the adoption, stating that many patients undergoing joint and spinal surgery are elderly or have chronic diseases. Because these patients face a higher risk of arrhythmias or cardiovascular complications during recovery, he emphasized the need for real-time biosignal monitoring after surgery.
